O hotel Barceló Funchal Oldtown aliou-se ao projeto criativo da marca Behén de Joana Duarte, baseado na filosofia de upcycling, e juntos lançaram uma coleção de shopping bags, feitas a partir de antigas colchas portuguesas encontradas em mercados de todo o país.
O projeto tem como objetivo proteger e conservar o artesanato português junto das gerações mais jovens, em especial, a arte do bordado, uma das indústrias mais típicas e antigas da Madeira.
“O meu objetivo é promover e preservar o património e o saber-fazer dos bordados portugueses, e esta colaboração com o Barceló Funchal Oldtown permitiu-me criar uma coleção exclusiva e única de malas com materiais que já existiam e que precisavam de uma segunda vida. Enquanto designer, quero fazer moda de forma sustentável e ética, e graças a esta parceria posso continuar a trabalhar dessa maneira”, refere Joana Duarte.
Os princípios desta parceria passam pela sustentabilidade, a reciclagem e a importância do handmade, dando uma nova vida a roupa de cama e de mesa, cortinados e outros têxteis antigos.
A coleção é limitada e está disponível numa loja pop up, que o hotel tem à disposição dos seus hóspedes e clientes.
